Forged Mill Rolls
High quality roll production needs a good steel and a good heat treatment of the steel. Our Forged rolls are produced from high alloyed tool steels, high speed steels and PM Steels.
Our forged steel for rolls is produced from best raw materials, which is molten in electric arc furnaces. The liquid steel is poured into ingots, where it solidifies. With clean casting technology and if necessery, the ESR proces is added.The ingots are then forged, depending on the dimensional range.
With our extensive knowledge and experience of manufacturing forged work rolls, we can assist clients in selecting the grades and parameters that will assure optimal performance in their mill operations.
Heat Treatment of The rolls
the heat treatment of the rolls is performed in vertical furnaces with a gas protective atmosphere
or in surface hardening machines.
The whole heat treatment process is digitally controlled with a central computer. The data is always available for later use and research.
A quality steel and the heat treatment give to the rolls all the necessary characteristics, as:
- Toughness
- Breakage resistance
- Crack/spalling/pitting resistance
- Wear resistance
Mechanical Finishing of The Rolls
After the initial mechanical treatment of rolls with ceramic tools, the final grinding is performed on highly exact grinding machines, with which all the necessary tolerances are achieved.
Quality Control of The Rolls
All the rolls are checked to the following and delivered with the acc. certificates:
- Chemical analysis of the steel
- Ultrasonic testing for material inclusions and defects
- Hardness testing with an allowed tolerance of +/- 1HRC
- Ferro-flux test for surface cracks
- Dimensional control
